Celtic group Shamrock Street hosted Friends of The Irish Night at the Alberta Social Club in May for the first time in over a year as coronavirus restrictions were lifted.

Now the group can’t wait to bring the traditional Irish party back to the Alberta Social Club as they host another Friends of The Irish Night series this Thursday, October 28.

It starts at 8:15 p.m. and there is no cover charge.

Band organizer Eddie Macintyre was thrilled with the band reuniting in May and looking forward to giving fans another great performance this month.

Shamrock Street performs a variety of Irish music and songs, consisting of violin, electric violin, flute whistle, harmonicas, percussion and vocals, guitars and mandolin.

The group will be supported by singers on the floor for the lively evening, which is a popular fixture in South Tyneside’s rolling cultural calendar.

Friends of the Irish Night is one of Jarrow’s oldest traditions, dating back to 1962 – over half a century and seeking to celebrate and promote all that is Irish in the community of Jarrow, which has strong roots in the country.
